The robotic "fauna", dubbed "necrosphere", has become part of the planet's ecology, and would require a disruption on a planetary scale to be destroyed. Invincible's crew mounts an escalating series of attacks on the perceived enemy, but eventually recognizes the futility of their efforts. It lacks intelligence and cannot formulate attack strategies proactively. Condor's crew suffered a complete memory erasure as a consequence of attacks from these "clouds". These swarms display complex behavior arising from self-organization and can incapacitate any intelligent threat by a powerful surge of electromagnetic interference. When threatened, they can assemble into huge clouds, travel at a high speed, and even climb to the top of the troposphere. Individually, or in small groups, they are quite harmless and capable of only very simple behavior. The protagonists come to speculate that a kind of evolution must have taken place under the selection pressures of "robot wars", with the only surviving form being swarms of minuscule, insect-like micromachines. During the investigation, the crew finds evidence of a form of quasi-life, born through evolution of autonomous, self-replicating machines, apparently left behind by an alien civilization ship which landed on Regis III a very long time ago. It was one of the first novels to explore the ideas of microrobots, smartdust, artificial swarm intelligence, and "necroevolution" (a term suggested by Lem for the evolution of non-living matter).Ī heavily armed interstellar spacecraft called Invincible lands on the planet Regis III, which seems uninhabited and bleak, to investigate the loss of her sister ship, Condor. A direct translation into English from Polish, by Bill Johnston, was published in 2006. A translation into German was published in 1967 an English translation by Wendayne Ackerman, based on the German one, was published in 1973. The Invincible originally appeared as the title story in Lem's collection Niezwyciężony i inne opowiadania (" The Invincible and Other Stories"). Meet the first Siten, do reckons like saving Maya, mess around with jack again and even back to the very beginning and stop the Eridian from entering their realm. The Invincible ( Polish: Niezwyciężony) is a hard science fiction novel by Polish writer Stanisław Lem, published in 1964. Then they could make temporal shifting a thing and let them open temporal portal back and forward in BL history to key times and events. I would make it not focus on vaults but with Ava in search of a way to locate Lillith and finding out about the origin of the Eridian is a different plane then ours that is timeless.Īnd this is where Lilith shifted to by mistake when she overserged her powers. Probbly a better future, not war torn and in shambles. If they were removed from existence then no vaults, no greedy manufacturer, no bandits. They need one more story to concluded Sirens and remove the Eridian influence from the BL universe. Anymore BL games and they're milking it IMO B3 story was too much a set-up for B4, that it would be a waste if they dont. Originally posted by Fancyslimshady:I think Borderlands should just end at 3. She could even remote control different robot suits from a secure location and each suit is a different skill tree and changes based upon the different selections made while leveling.Įista - Berserker fits the role perfectly will use guns if he has to but loves to slass with his Warhammers it'd be Brick from the first game just a bit different. Tannis - Siren that has pets (like flak) except they're all machines or turrets. We don't know what Commandant Steele's powers were before she was eaten in the first game so that's a possible one too. As such, I'm going to assume that it'll be years before they resurface again. I don't think it will be Tyreen Calypso's powers because she failed to pass her powers on to another. Now, Tannis has powers we have seen during the Angel fight and all throughout this game but non that we have used before they could do some badass mech or turret builds with Tannis it'd be sweet!. I wasn't the biggest fan of Ava and I don't think it will be her because we have already had a siren with her powers be playable.
